Challenges of Big Data Section for Internet - MyAssignmenthelp
Question: Discuss about theChallenges of Big Data Section for Internet. Answer: Summary with Recommendations for Business Owners Wanting to use Big Data The big data refers to the vast datasets analyzed computations for revealing trends, associations and patterns. This is done especially in inter-connection with human interactions and behaviors (Fan, Han and Liu 2014). The revolution of big data has evolved with the rise of Internet, smart-phones, wireless networks, social media and various other technologies. The Internet has been leading to the unlimited increase in amount of data, resulting in the challenge of big data. Here the business owners have to deal with large quantity of data relevant directly to human lives. Businesses discussing about the usage of big data generally acquire the resources for hiring research forms and the data scientists to work for them. The big data has been characterized by large dimensionality and huge sample size. The unique challenges regarding big data arise from these features. The large dimensionality brings accumulation of noise, incidental homogeneity and spurious correlations. This combined with huge sample size generates problems like heavy algorithmic instability and computational cost. The vast samples in bid data has been aggregated typically from numerous sources at various timings utilizing distinct technologies. This generates problems of experimental variations, statistical biases and heterogeneity. The business owners need to create more r obust and adaptive procedures (Jin et al. 2015). To enhance the strategy of big-data and maximize the business values from the enterprise data there are five recommendations done. The business owners should begin with the customer-centric outcomes. They must create a planning for their overall enterprise. They must begin with data which has been available already within the enterprise. Then should identify the business priorities and create the strategy over that. Lastly they should develop a business case on the basis of measurable outcomes. The above summary and the research around it have provided insights for the business relevant to deployment of big data. For using big data the solutions for the above challenges are to be made keeping the recommendations in mind. References: Fan, J., Han, F. and Liu, H., 2014. Pygmalion Essays (1919 words) - English-language Films, Pygmalion
Pygmalion I chose the archetype "The prostitute with a heart of gold". An archetype is defined as a universal idea that can take many forms, appearing"spontaneously, at any time, at any place, and without any outside influence" (Pygmalion's Word Play, Carl Jung, p. 82). When present in the unconscious, an archetype shapes thoughts, feelings, moods, speech, and actions. The ?prostitute with a heart of gold' originated in early Greek mythology as the story of Pygmalion. Next, a more modern version called My Fair Lady was written and performed in the 1950's. Then in the 1980's the movie Pretty Woman came out, which has the same story line as the other two, although it is a lot more modernized and the theme of a ?prostitute with a heart of gold' is much more evident than in of its predecessors. Although ?the oldest profession' was just as large a factor in society in 1912 when George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion play was released as it is today, it was talked about much less freely and the idea of reforming street girl was not as feasible as it is today. "My Fair Lady" was one of the first versions of a poor street girl metamorphasizing into an elegant, proper lady. Pretty Woman can closely trace its roots back to "My Fair Lady," because both women reform to a better life that they never dreamed was possible, the most striking difference being that Pretty Woman is a more modernized version and the evidence of prostitution is much more evident. In the story of Pygmalion, he wanted a wife, yet he saw too much corruption in women and always doubted their true motives. He was a very talented sculptor, and one day he began sculpting an ivory maiden statue. No woman was physically comparable to this statue, not the most perfect naturally created woman. His art was so good that it caught him in his own web of deceit. Eventually Pygmalion fell in love with this counterfeit creation, full well knowing that he would drive himself mad obsessing over an inanimate object while at the same time knowing that nothing good could come from his love. He caressed her, gave her presents and decorated her body with fine clothing and jewels. He even laid her on his royal bed at night to sleep, calling her his wife. Finally, the festival of Venus came and Pygmalion stood before the altar and timidly said, "Give me, I pray to you for my wife" - he dared not say "my ivory wife", but said instead - "One like my ivory virgin" ("Metamorphoses by Ovid, p.10). The golden goddess of Venus knew that he meant he wanted his statue to be his wife, so she granted his wish. When Pygmalion returned home he placed his hands upon his statue, and to his surprise she felt warm and alive! Her lips became soft, and her skin molded to his touch. Nine months later a baby girl was born to them. In this Greek myth Pygmalion creates an ideal woman, made out of ivory. Although he never expected her to become real he still treated her like his wife and took great care of her. Eventually his wish was granted and she was brought to life. The perfect woman, in his eyes, was now his wife. Pygmalion created and formed this woman, showing that if you want something bad enough and love it as much as he loved his statue, you can make it happen. In "My Fair Lady," written during the era of the 1950's in England, there was a high aristocratic society which demarcates itself from the rest of English society, consisting of the elegantly dressed bourgeois class sharply contrasting the poor peasant class. Eliza Doolittle, a disheveled cockney flower vender who was lucky enough to catch the eye of a Professor Henry Higgins who gives her an offer she can't refuse. Higgins is a well known phonetic expert who studies "...the science of speech...speech patterns and their corresponding locations..." (Pygamalion, p.19). He brutally criticizes Eliza's detestable ?boo-hooing" and crude pronunciations of words. To the snobby, intolerant Higgins inarticulateness and ignorance concerning proper dialect and language produces a ?verbal class distinction' that functions as an external indicator of what class in society you belong to. He cannot understand why some English men and women do not take the time to learn how to speak proper English. Higgins makes the offer to Eliza to stay with him for six months and he would teach her how to

Free Essays on Execution Free Essays on Execution Witness to an Execution At the dawn of the 21st century, the death penalty is considered by most civilized nations as a cruel and inhuman punishment. It has been abolished by 106 nations and 30 countries have abolished it since 1990. However, the death penalty continues to be commonly used throughout the United States. There are three major perspectives in regards to the death penalty; Functionalist, conflict and interactionist perspectives. I hope to show how sociological perspectives are applicable to the issues addresses in the documentary, Witness to an Execution. God inscribed in stone, before Moses the ten commandments, one of which states that, ââ¬Å"thou shall not killâ⬠. Advantages of Discovery Learning
Advantages of Discovery Learning Jump to: Advantages of Discovery Learning Discovery learning was first put into writing by Jerome Bruner in the 1970ââ¬â¢s. In part II of his book titled ââ¬Å"The Quest for Clarityâ⬠, Bruner discusses his views on ââ¬Å"the Act of Discoveryâ⬠. Bruner states his belief that to successfully educate, the educator must first assess what is already known. In this essay Bruner summarizes the basic principles of discovery learning, their benefits, its process, and a set of experiments that Bruner used which according to him, proved his theory. This essay will use research that supports Brunerââ¬â¢s theory in an attempt to prove that discovery learning is more effective than direct instruction and explain how educators should teach in result of the research. What is discovery learning? Discovery learning is an approach to learning that can be facilitated by specific teaching methods and guided learning strategies. For this essay the term discovery learning will refer to learning that takes place within in the individual, the teaching and instructional strategies designed by the teacher, and the environment created when these strategies are used. Direct or traditional instruction are strategies used in teacher led classrooms, including lectures, drill and practice, and expository learning. Bicknell, Holmes, and Hoffman (2000) describe the three main attributes of discovery learning as 1) exploring and problem solving to create, integrate, and generalize knowledge, 2) student driven, interest based activities in which student determines the sequence and frequency, and 3) activities to encourage integration of new knowledge into the learnerââ¬â¢s existing knowledge base. The first attribute to discovery learning is a very important one. By exploring problems, and coming up with their own solutions, studentââ¬â¢s are taking an active role in creating integrating, and generalizing knowledge. Studentââ¬â¢s are not passively taking in information , as they would during a lecture, but are coming up with broad applications for skills by taking risks, solving problems, and examining unique, but useful experiences (Bicknell-Holmes & Hoffman, 2000). This attribute of discovery learning dramatically changes the role of students and teachers, which some traditional teachers find hard to accept. The second attribute of discovery learning is that it encourages students to learn at their own pace (Bicknell-Holmes & Hoffman, 2000). This attribute allow students learning to progress freely as the student is ready to learn new material. Students must obtain a high level of motivation and take ownership in their learning for this attribute to be met. The third major attribute of discovery learning is that it is based on the principle of using existing knowledge as a basis to build new knowledge (Bicknell-Holmes & Hoffman, 2000). Students must be encouraged and provided with knowledge they already know to extend this knowledge and build ne w ideas. A good example of this is when students discover how to multiply a three digit number by a three digit number, by using their knowledge of multiplying a two digit number by a two digit number. The student would build on what they know about multiplication to come up with a new way of multiplying three digits by three digits.
